SMS was launched in 2005, this year our organisation will host students for the third consecutive time.
SMS is a series of annual placements with pay for top-rate students.
During SMS, the participating students are offered an opportunity to learn about the specific nature of the Group’s operations and complete a placement in the selected department. The work of each SMS participant over the placement assignment is overseen by a supervisor appointed for that purpose. The assignments are designed in a way that stimulates the development of the required competences in participants, such as: the ability to analyse and assess the situation as well as to suggest solutions, the ability to work individually and in a team, the ability to work on a project, communication skills, work management.
At the end of the annual series the SMS participants attend a joint training course frequently combined with a specific project assignment. Upon completion of their university instruction, many SMS graduates find jobs with the Company (see: Profiles).

“Initially I was given some boring and tedious work … at the end of the placement, I realised how much that boring work paid off, because it taught me to read documents. The lesson from it is that my supervisor knew exactly what he was doing when he gave the assignment to me, it was by no means to just get rid of me. Each task teaches you something. The second incredibly important thing is that interns are given certain assignments to plan and perform on their own. It is true that the supervisor says: “Do it the way you think best” and you also know at the back of your head that you can always ask him or her for advice but it helps you feel like somebody who is not lead by the hand but like somebody who is treated as a serious fellow worker. And while these are simple things, it makes you want to participate in it, simply come to work” – another Łukasz, a management and marketing student.
“To me an important advantage was also the recruitment and selection process the participants had to go through, which as I understand is similar to the one future employees follow; it also gave us experience in that area” – Michał, an economics student.
