Lewiatan Orbita Joins Emperia Holding S.A

Emperia Holding S.A. has concluded an agreement to acquire 119 shares in the Olsztyn-based Lewiatan Orbita operating as a limited liability company.

The total value of the transaction is PLN 700,500. The interest acquired represents 41 percent of the share capital and carries 54 percent of votes at the general meeting of shareholders. Following the acquisition, Emperia holds directly or through subsidiaries 100 percent of shares in Lewiatan Orbita.

The investment in Lewiatan Orbita Sp. z o.o. has been financed with the internal cash flows of Emperia Holding S.A. The interest is a long-term equity investment.

The incorporation of Lewiatan Orbita is part of the development strategy adopted by Emperia Holding, premised on the active consolidation of the wholesale and retail market in Poland.

Lewiatan Orbita  Sp. z o.o. is the franchisor for a chain of FMCG retail outlets. At the moment, the chain comprises 86 outlets located in the Warmińsko-Mazurskie Region of Poland, offering in aggregate some 7,500 sq. m of selling space.

Emperia Holding S.A. is one of the largest Polish FMCG wholesale/retail groups. The operations of the company fall into two segments: retail and wholesale, with a combined workforce of 11,000. The wholesale subsidiaries of Emperia Holding group operate 68 warehouses throughout Poland. The retail chains of Emperia run nearly 1,700 supermarkets.
