Management Academy programme in Emperia

23-02-2010

It is over 200 employees that have been trained by the Emperia Trading Group as part of the management development programme. The Management Academy programme launched 9 months ago is the group’s strategy aimed at improving the skills of its managers, and thus to strengthen the potential of the entire organisation.

The training sessions focus above all on improving the effectiveness of management in the various departments of the Emperia Trading Group. The managers discuss and practice issues relating among others to communication, staff incentivisation and team development. Each programme participants takes part in a round of three two-day training sessions. The effects are clear even now. The managers are more open and willing to rely on modern solutions in managing their staff.

“The scope of the programme and the complexity of the issues addressed will help implement uniform principles of communications and team management standards at the Emperia Trading Group. It is all the more important as in 2009 we completed the consolidation of Emperia’s wholesale business,” said Renata Bronisz-Czyż, HRM Director at Emperia Holding S.A.

The project leaders have arranged the topics of instruction in such a way as to ensure the greatest possible impact upon the skills of the participants and their everyday work. “And this is exactly what is happening,” said Joanna Czapka, Store Manager at Stokrotka. “As specific exercises were based on our day-to-day work, we could share our experiences and comments,” she added.

The Management Academy training is co-financed by the European Social Fund. This is the first project of this sort at Emperia. “We knew that in this case the reaction of our staff will be crucial, and their feedback about the project was very positive. Both attendance and active participation during training was good,” stressed Beata Wołodkiewicz, Management Academy Projet Manager.
