Emperia Wholesale Business at Halfway Point of Changes

02-12-2009

The launch of the refurbished Cash & Carry location in Wrocław marks another step in the process of streamlining the wholesale business of the Emperia Trading Group.

The revamping of the Emperia Trading Group’s wholesale business commenced in April 2008. The objective was for the new Tradis company with a single NIP Tax Number to combine the operations of seven companies that previously comprised Emperia’s wholesale segment. The Tradis business will fall into seven regions made up of modern Distribution Centres and supported by self-service Cash & Carry locations, just like the one being re-launched after upgrade in Wrocław.

“The integration of the Emperia’s wholesale business into a single company is a huge challenge, which requires coordination of many factors, as well as involving considerable financial outlays. That is why, I am all the happier that everything is going according to the plan, and we are even succeeding in speeding up the integration processes. Let me add that we are not only focusing on merging the wholesale companies into a single business but we are also upgrading our facilities while we are at it. We are applying the new company style in the self-service locations (Wrocław being a good example) and erecting new warehouses (e.g. in Stargard Szczeciński),” said Jarosław Wawerski, Chairman of Management Board, Tradis Sp. z o.o.

The first stage of wholesale business rationalisation involved changing the company’s business name from Eldorado to Tradis, with subsequent gradual amalgamation by Tradis of the operations of selected branches owned by the various subsidiaries of the group. In May, the Błonie Distribution Centre owned by BOS was incorporated, followed by the Warszawa-Praga Cash & Carry branch owned by Express Podlaski, and five DLS branches in Ciechanów, Płońsk, Kutno, Konin, and Włocławek. In August Tradis took over the operations of Sydo that owned four wholesale operations in Wrocław, Zielona Góra, Ziemnice, and Katowice. New Distribution Centres were launched in Wrocław and Będzin. Still ahead of Tradis is the launch of the Distribution Centre in Stargard Szczeciński, scheduled for early 2009, and the merger of the other wholesale companies.

Prior to the upgrade, the Cash & Carry Tradis location in Wrocław operated as a Sydo branch. After the modernisation, the store offers 3,000 sq. m of space and 7,000 product items. The facility is functional and it meets all the requirements of a modern C&C outlet, in which shopping is fast and convenient for the customers.
